Come Play in NATURE

August 23, 2010

Lily Springs Farm has partnered with TigerLion Arts, to bring to you a mythic telling of Emerson and Thoreau’s mutual love affair with the natural world. Grounded in the story of their friendship and set in a playful theatrical style woven together with music and song, the play offers a perspective of their lives that is strikingly relevant, richly complex, and yet utterly simple.

This family-friendly performance will take its audience on a journey through the breathtaking Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, transport them to another time, and become a catalyst for each to consider their own relationship with the environment.

Nature was collaboratively created by Emerson’s descendant, Tyson Forbes, with actor Sam Elmore, piper Dick Hensold, and director Markell Kiefer.

We at Lily Springs Farm are honored to be a part of such an amazing production whose creative roots found inspiration at our property during its early stages. We, like Tigerlion Arts, are committed to celebrating human wisdom and the spirit of Nature through creative works that awaken, inform, and delight.

August 19-September 5
Thursday/Friday at 6pm
Saturday/Sunday at 3 and 6pm

Kickoff Feast: Summer Collaborative Event Series

July 13, 2010

On June 27th, Lily Springs Farm launched the 1st of our summer event series bringing together people across diverse fields and disciplines to create, collaborate, and inspire. The day’s activities revolved around three main ideas – community, art and food – where we had artists, architects, innovators, and passionate individuals contributing their unique skills and creativity to build community and jump start summer projects. Projects included a workshop in mushroom inoculation, foraging, tree logging, and mural design. The day culminated with a dinner created by Chris Olson, chef at Meritage in St. Paul and founder of Paired, followed by an evening of music, feasting, and camping. Join us next time on July 24th for our full moon event focusing on local music, natural building, and collaborative art! Details will be posted online, but feel free to contact maggie@lilyspringsfarm.com for more information. Hope to see you there!

Summer Programming with the Youth Science Center

May 3, 2010

Welcome to the Lily Springs Farm opening season of summer programming. Right now we’re offering inspired individuals the opportunity to escape the Cities this summer and help out with a new project that brings inner city youth to a developing farm property in Wisconsin.

This collaborative summer endeavor trains rising youth in the arts, natural building, basic ecology, sustainable agriculture, and environmental design, using creativity, imagination and hands-on learning. Our goal is to have these youth return from the farm with the skills, experiences, and opportunities to be innovative and grounded leaders in their communities for building a sustainable and creative future.

If you have the skills to teach, or want to learn alongside, please join us this summer. We’ll be outside, in the dirt, over the river, through the woods, and around a campfire, sharing knowledge, laughter, and skills.

The program runs once a week June 15th- August 15th at Lily Springs Farm in Osceola, WI and is partnered with members of the Permaculture Research Institute, Ecological Gardens, and students from the Youth Science Center at the Science Museum Of Minnesota. Food, gas, and additional compensations will be provided.
